Onion soup


Onion soup  traditional French dish first. If initially was considered a poor meal onion soup, today it can be found in virtually every French restaurant.


Ingredients for 2 servings

  • large onions — 4 pieces
  • hard cheese — 150 g
  • butter — 125 g
  • white bread — 1 loaf
  • bay leaf — 2 pieces
  • black pepper powder — ¼ tsp..
  • sea salt — ½ tsp..


Onion peel and cut into half rings. In a saucepan with a thick bottom warm up butter, add onion, stir, cover and leave to languish at very low heat. When the onions become very soft and slightly caramelizes, fill it with liter of boiling water, add the bay leaf, salt and pepper.

Baton cut into chunks 1 cm thick and dry it in an oven or in a pan without oil. Cheese grate.

Pour the soup into a refractory ceramic dish, sprinkle with cheese, put the croutons, and sprinkle it with cheese and put for 1-2 minutes in a very hot oven at the top, the cheese is slightly browned.
